Rights of children

Children’s rights have earned increased attention across the UN spectrum. Both the United Nations Human Rights Council and the General Assembly of the United Nations have adopted resolutions on the rights of the child.

One of the seven principal United Nations human rights conventions and covenants that Canada has ratified is the Convention on the Rights of the Child. As part of our nation’s commitment to this convention, Canada must submit a report to the United Nations every five years about how it has worked to further the rights of children.
